ADHD & Chemical Imbalance
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit
Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) has been and continues to be one of the most
misunderstood and misdiagnosed problems for children. ADD
is a developmental disorder mainly characterized by:
Distractibility
Impulsive behavior
The inability to remain focused on tasks or activities
Poor self esteem
It can occur with or without hyperactivity, depression or anxiety.
While ADHD is primarily associated with children
there is a growing awareness of it in adults. A prominent psychiatrist in our
area recently made the comment, Only about 3 to 4% of adults with ADHD are
being diagnosed.
The bad news about ADD / ADHD is that almost no schools in America and very, very few doctors have a clue as to the cause of the problems of ADHD so they are unable to help (though they say they are trying to
help.) If you know a child with ADD / ADHD than you know that they get into trouble at school but they can't help it. They are not being bad just to be bad.
They can't help being ADD / ADHD and it is the ADHD that causes them to act the way they do.
One must understand that behavioral modification doesn't correct ADD or ADHD. Threats, punishment, bribes don't correct the underlying
behavioral problems of ADD / ADHD. Those things can't correct ADD / ADHD. At best they
might modify some behavior, but more likely they will just frustrate your child
and cause performance anxiety or drive the child away from you and into bad company.
The most frequently used method of treatment for ADD / ADHD is medication since
it is covered by most insurances. However, it is not the best method of
treatment. Most people on medication have some complaints and/or concerns.
Prescription medication is designed for temporary relief by imitating and
redistributing existing neurotransmitters. They do not increase the body's
supply of neurotransmitters, improve the health of neural receptors or restore
overall health in the body. Prescription medication often causes chemical
imbalances that traditional doctors keep adding more and more medication for.
They do not always to the root of the problem, neurotransmitter imbalance.
Neurotransmitter optimization can be used in conjunction with medication and
other therapies to enhance their effectiveness.
There are neural mechanisms underlying attention. Attentional disorders or
ADD represent dysfunctions in the chemical balance or the functional processes
in these neural mechanisms. An imbalance of
certain neurotransmitters, the chemicals in the brain that transmit messages
between nerve cells, can cause the symptoms related to attentional difficulties.
Decrease in systemic neurotransmitter levels, like
dopamine, norepherine GABA and serotonin, directly correlates with diminished
cognitive function. The other side of the coin is that as urinary
neurotransmitter levels increase above the high end of normal
(hyper-excretion, there is also a correlation with cognitive function.
Neurotransmitter testing of adults and children demonstrate a trend of
hyper-secretion of dopamine and/or GABA, and a low secretion of serotonin.
The good news is that though the problems caused by ADHD are serious, and though these problems have done a lot of psychological damage to the child or adult already, ADHD is correctable and the child (person) can recover from the psychological damage. How do I know? Because already there are thousands of kids (people) gone through special programs which actually correct the problems of ADHD.
If you have struggled
through other methods of therapy that just have not worked you need to try one
with research and data supporting the fact that it helps.
There is no better proof than success.
The documentation proving a neurobiological connection to ADD /ADHD has been
established. NeuroScience research has thousands of research files that indicate consistent
patterns of neurotransmitter imbalances in those that have ADD / ADHD and
autism. They also have thousands of tests from those same people and found that
neurotransmitter optimization actually works. NeuroScience has spent thousands of dollars
to find you a solution that fits into your life and promotes overall well being
as well as helping control the symptoms of ADD / ADHD. Neurotransmitter
testing for hyper excretion of neurotransmitters is a viable option to verify
the etiology (root) of a suspected problem.
Neurotransmitter optimization improves the neural
mechanisms of vigilance, sensorimotor integration, and cognitive processing.
All of which affect attention, performance and learning. Therefore it makes
sense to enhance and balance the production of neurotransmitters through the use
of natural amino acids and cofactors found in Balance
Formula 1 and/or Endotrex. The
appropriate ratios and binding of amino acids and cofactors are the only way to
stimulate the production and balance of the neurotransmitters in a healthy way.
The right balance of neurotransmitters can set
the stage for restoring health and improving ADD / AHD. Your brain and nervous
system will once again send strong signals to the restore your body and improve
the symptoms associated with ADD / ADHD resulting in:
Even energy levels
Better concentration
Improved mood
Higher motivation levels
Behavioral and impulse control
Better control over hyperactivity, depression and anxiety
After the neurotransmitters are under control, one will
need to work on remediating or improving the learning skills that were not
learned prior to correcting the chemical imbalance. That is where the rest of
our products come in. They help in improving the functional processes in the
neural mechanisms involved in ADD / ADHD.

The typical protocol for ADHD from Neuroscience is GABA Max and Serene.
Neuroscience also produces a theanine spray or a citrus flavored drink for
children that do not swallow capsules. Neuroscience also provides test kits to
individualized their neurotransmitter program. It was very helpful for our
doctors to have this information. It should that our daughter had digestive
disorders that interplayed with her imbalance.

Product Description
Serene
is a non-stimulatory product used
extensively during Phase 1 of
neurotransmitter optimization to increase
serotonin and prior to therapies that are
more stimulatory.
Serene addresses the low
serotonin levels commonly seen in
neurotransmitter test results as well as
prevents over-stimulation from excitatory
neurotransmitters.
Neurotransmitter testing has found that
individuals can have significant differences
in their serotonin levels and that a large
portion of the population has serotonin
levels below the NeuroScience - Optimal
Range. Serotonin levels are influenced by
genetics, diet, stress, and drug or chemical
exposure. Neurotransmitter testing has also
shown that Serene will
increase serotonin levels.
Product Ingredients
Serene
is an amino acid formula that supports
serotonin neurotransmission via
5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP).
All of the 5-HTP included in NeuroScience
products is of the highest quality and has
been tested by an independent laboratory and
been found to be free of Peak X.
Other ingredients in Serene
are vitamin and mineral cofactors of the
enzymes required for the synthesis of
neurotransmitters. |

Product Description
GABAMax is a formula designed to address neurotransmitter
over-stimulation and is used in patients with high catecholamine
turnover or increased GABA excretion. GABA is the primary inhibitory
neurotransmitter in the brain and regulates neurotransmitter activity to
prevent over-stimulation.
GABAMax is similar to CeroLox in that
it supports serotonin and GABA but is different in that it contains N-acetyltyrosine
instead of phenylalanine. The small amount tyrosine will
provide neurotransmitter balance by supporting catecholamine
synthesis but will not increase PEA.
GABAMax has been used successfully during the initial phase of
neurotransmitter therapy to reduce catecholamine excretion prior to
using Optimum-C, Optimum-S, or TransLean. GABAMax
my also be part of the ongoing therapies for patients with
neurotransmitter over-stimulation.
Product Ingredients
GABAMax contains the amino acid theanine,
which has been widely studied for its ability to provide a calming
effect and prevent the neurotransmitter stimulatory effects.
These studies match observations by NeuroScience that theanine reduces
PEA, norepinephrine, and epinephrine activity/turnover and urinary
excretion.
Taurine is another inhibitory amino acid in the GABAMax
formula. Taurine acts by enhancing the effect of GABA. Together
these amino acids can quickly reduce high neurotransmitter excretion. The
serotonin precursor 5-hydroxytryptophan is included because serotonin is
an important neuromodulator that enhances GABA activity.
N-acetyltyrosine is included at very low levels to maintain
neurotransmitter balance.
Other ingredients in GABAMax are vitamin and mineral
cofactors of the enzymes required for the synthesis of
neurotransmitters.

Catecholamines
are neural transmitters, and include dopamine, norepinephrine
and epinephrine (adrenaline). Imbalance of catecholamines can result in
autonomic dysfunction.
Theanine
is a unique free form amino acid. It's a relaxant that increases alpha-waves
producing mental and physical relaxation decreasing stress and anxiety, without
inducing drowsiness. It is the therapeutic element in green tea, used in many
products by the Japanese, however green tea also contains caffeine.
GABA, or gamma-aminobutyric acid, is a
messenger chemical that is essential for optimizing how brain cells transmit
messages to each other and acts to put a damper on unwanted brain signaling
activity
